"Looking for a Computer Security Systems Specialist in Annapolis, MD ***This position is contingent upon the customer’s approval*** TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Contract LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 1000 hours over a period of 6 months ANTICIPATED START DATE: MAY 12, 2013 +/- Our respective client has a task with the State of MD's current information technology environment is consolidated at three primary locations with twenty-four plus satellite locations to conduct local election administration tasks.  The locations are SBE’s headquarters located in Annapolis, Maryland and two Network Operations Centers (NOC) data centers at two locations in the State across a VPN in support of the voter registration system. The Voter Registration System is currently in the design phase for a refresh to a virtualized environment. There are up to 400 users of the voter registration system. There is also a VPN connection to MVA for data verification purposes. In addition, SBE provides support to the twenty (24) local county elections offices (LBE’s). SBE’s website is maintained off site in the Annapolis area. The voter services portion of the website (including online voter registration, voter lookup, polling place locator and online ballot delivery) is hosted at the same location as one of the data centers. This provides access to the voter registration system for secure data transfers and data verification with the MVA. There are approximately forty (40) users supported at SBE’s headquarters in addition to approximately (375) Local Board of Elections (LBE) users.  SBE’s headquarters includes a rack-mounted server environment that provides local connectivity, office systems, Election Management System (EMS) support, Electronic Pollbook servers and support for the elections between headquarters and the twenty four (24) local board offices. SBE also has a secure wireless WAN PollBook network. The SBE continues to undergo extensive improvements with the implementation of virtual technology with its website and the increased use of cloud computing for different functions. The goal is to provide a more user-friendly website for Maryland voters and candidates in addition to providing management and staff the ability to perform their job responsibilities in a more efficient and effective manner. SBE headquarters is primarily a Dell and HP, Windows Server 2003/2008, Linux and Cisco environment.  There are approximately 12 networked servers, and the backup system is a tape device. A few of the agency servers are Oracle and MS SQL application servers. SBE’s support with Local Boards of Elections(LBE’s) 50 standalone Dell ST310 Servers running Global Election Management System (GEMS). Software, proprietary and ancillary software, supporting approximately 75 local board users.
