"Who We Want: Catalogs with tens of millions of products and services from thousands of the world's biggest brands and retailers. Hundreds of millions of ratings, reviews, and other pieces of user generated content. *Hundreds of billions* of records of user-to-user interactions and conversations. And you only have a half-second to search through all that data to answer any given query, which incidentally are coming in at more than ten thousand queries per second. At Bazaarvoice, over the past 5 years our software has been at the core of social commerce on the web for some of the world's biggest brands and retailers. The result is an absolutely massive amount of data, at scales comparable to the most high-traffic individual web sites out there. It is critical to the future success of Bazaarvoice that we continue to find ways to leverage that data and turn it into valuable insights for our clients. We're looking for a big data expert to join our already outstanding team of engineers. You'll work closely with a team of engineers to create a platform on top of that data that will be leveraged by virtually every other product and system we have built or will build in the future. You'll be responsible for ensuring that the system can respond to highly time-sensitive queries as well as service offline batch jobs that touch huge swaths of the data, all while keeping up with an ever-increasing incoming data rate. Skills and Experience Necessary for the Role: Requirements and Responsibilities: •Be a visionary, help us form a forward-looking perspective on how to manage our data effectively and efficiently. •Be an achiever, have a demonstrated track record of designing, implementing and managing storage and retrieval systems for very large data sets. •Be a teacher, help us ramp our existing engineering team on navigating the vast sea of data. •Be a magnet, help us attract and hire more great big data engineers. •Be hands-on, willing to dig in and crank out high-quality code.
